Nag Tibba lies on the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayas, North-East of Mussoorie. The peak is at an altitude of 3100m. It offers spectacular views of Mussoorie, Vikashnagar, the Banderpoonch range and spurs created by the Yamuna river valley. NagTibba is a typical ridge peak on the Nag Tibba Range of the lower Himalayas. In fact, along with the Pir Punjal and Dhauladhar; the Nag Tibba range forms one of the 3 main ranges of the lower Himalayas. It is also mentioned in the very famous book '7 years in Tibet' which chronicles the escape of Hienrich Harrier from the British into Tibet. There is a temple dedicated to Nag Devta and the range owes its name to this temple. Snakes have always held an important status in the Hindu religion. According to Hindu mythology, snakes are considered as representation of rebirth, death and mortality, due to its casting of the skin and being symbolically "reborn". Since the days when religion and worship were a response to a way of life rather than a reason for existence; snakes have been given a cult status. In some places snake gods are associated with fertility. There are many snake god myths and iconographic symbols associated with them in the Hindu mythology like that of Sheshnag (Vishnu's resting couch), Ananatnag (the endless snake), Kaliya (Krishna's dance), Vasuki (churning of the ocean), Padmanabha ( guardian snake especially in south India), Manasa devi (snake goddess) etc. For the villagers in this part of the mountains he is the protector of their cattle and sheep. Domesticated animals are their biggest assets and Nag Devta their protector.

Itinerary Day 01 :
Dehradun - Water Campsite (3-4hrs Drive/3hrs Trek)
We begin the day early from Dehradun. This way we can avoid the traffic towards Mussoorie and Kamptee falls. Mussoorie is 22kms from Dehradun and Kamptee falls another 17kms further. The road continues downhill from here towards the Yamuna river bed and reaches the town of Nainbagh. One road continues towards Yamunotri while we take the narrower road which climbs uphill towards Pantwari village. This takes us behind the Mussoorie ridge and into shepherd territory. Gujjars with their domesticated sheep and goats are seen on hill tops. Terraced farms and hill slopes dotted with Bauhinia trees with their purple blossoms are a sight to photograph. These flowering trees are easily identified by their leaves which are in the shape of a camels' foot. An hour later we reach Pantwari village and begin our ascent to our camping site.
With mules carrying our luggage one can enjoy the village setting and life. Women are seen working on the wheat and green pea fields. Men are mainly employed in government jobs in the plains or work as porters and guides. There is still no relation between education and jobs in the Himalayas. The education system of the plains is explained to them which only take the youth further away from the hills. Our trekking trail rises beyond the farms and enters wild territory. Flowers and birds are plenty here. Most prominent flowers are white anemones (a flowering shrub) while among birds the jungle babbler, red vented bulbul, blue cheeked bulbul, hill myna, warblers and tits are common. We reach our camping ground by evening to enjoy the sunset over the hill spurs. The camping ground is flush with mint leaves which can be mixed to form a delightful brew of mint tea or the kandali shrub can be washed and cooked to form a tasty saag.

Day 02 :
Water Campsite - Nagtibba Top (3-4hrs ) - Nagtibba Base Campsite (1hr)
We start the second day post breakfast and climb to the Nag Devta temple. It is an ill maintained temple premise with no pujari but the locals come here frequently to pay their obeisance. There is a vast open space near the temple which is often used as a grazing ground for sheep and goats. The Nag Tibba ridge rises further up and is another 2 hours hike ahead. There is a distinct change in vegetation from here. The forest become dense and is dominated by oaks and rhododendrons. The forest floor is also damp indicating the lack of sunlight reaching it. This is an ideal habitat for a variety of orchids (locally called kachanar) to grow. However with the pressure of grazing, lopping of oaks and trekking; this region is under anthropogenic pressure. A variety of birds like the niltava and flameback woodpecker are seen in the barks of oak trees. We follow the trail back to our campsite and after lunch head down to Nagtibba campsite. With the night and stars taking over one gets a feeling of being isolated and far from civilization.

Day 03 :
Nagtibba Base - Pantwari ( 3-4hrs) - Dehradun (3-4hrs Drive )
We head to Nagtibba campsite. Post breakfast we start walking down towards Pantwari and enroute we will stop for lunch. After reaching Pantwari we will drive to Dehradun. Trip will end here.

This is a beautiful walk up nonetheless, amidst the wilderness of Rishikesh, and rest assured that we have made arrangements to make this as comfortable as possible, by providing 1 complementary bottle of water for the walk up, along with benches for a short rest, at regular intervals of the route.

Jump is done from the same Bungy Platform. You are fitted with a seat & chest harness which is connected to the fixed wire ropes. On jump, after an initial free fall, the ropes smoothly swing you like a pendulum.

Due to the different process of the Jump from the Bungy, the Giant Swing allows you the enjoy double the freefall of the Bungy, with considerably more speed, and almost as much fear.

Devban is one of the lesser known destinations of Uttarakhand. It is part of a reserve forest in the Kanasar forest range bordering Himachal Pradesh. It has a beautiful forest rest house located at an altitude of 2865m built in 1963. The forests are typically broadleaved oak; coniferous pine, fir and devdhar as well as thorny shrubs; especially near the rocky outcrops. The nearest road ahead is Chakrata which is 16 kms away. Chakrata is an old British cantonment town. The old stone houses with towering chimneys take you back into the British era. Most of chakrata is inaccessible due to army restrictions. Geologically this region is part of the Shiwaliks and is mostly made of loose sedimentary and limestone rocks although at some places quartz rock bands are visible. Geologists have found a few limestone caves in the lower reaches of the hills. The locals speak the jaunsari language and many gujjar huts can be found along the slopes of the hills.

There is a motorable road all the way up to the forest rest house but in winters the snow makes the place inaccessible by road. This gives an opportunity to trekkers to walk along the old forest trail through the dense oak and devdhar forests of this area. Chakrata is at an altitude of 2200m and the trekking route till Devban climbs upto 3000m.

Itinerary DAY 01:
Dehradoon To Chakrata (89kms) And 6kms Trek To Campsite
The day starts from Dehradun. We follow the route to vikasnagar via Indian military academy, Forest research institute and institute of petroleum. Next on the way is the industrial and educational town of selaqui. This is the main road to Saharanpur/Shimla/vikasnagar/poanta sahib and hence a lot of traffic is seen on the road. We turn right from herbertpur chowk towards vikasnagar. The road now ascends towards Kalsi which is the major forest division in this region. Plenty of plantations of teak and eucalyptus can be seen along the roadside. Kalsi is a very ancient town and is mentioned in ancient texts as well. A very famous Ashokan Rock Edict is found here. It was discovered by a Britisher in 1895 and is now maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. The language on the edict is Pali and the script is brahmi. We cross the Yamuna at Kalsi and reach chakrata after 2 hours via the village of sahiya. We have breakfast at one of the dhabas in chakrata. The trek starts from the forest chowki 4kms after chakrata. However we would recommend walking all the way from chakrata. The road winds among dense devdhar trees with babblers, nut-thatches, thrushes and tits to give you company. There is a small museum near the forest chowki. The views of the higher Himalayas along the way cannot be ignored. The sun rays weave through the upright trees creating a beautiful geometric pattern on the road.
The trek now moves from the tar road to a bridle path which the locals often use. The gradient is comfortable upto the small stop way of badrikhal. This place has a dhaba run by a Nepali family and a few houses scattered around. Badrikhal is located along the saddle of the ridge which overlooks the watershed of the famous tiger falls below chakrata. The village of mohna just above the falls is visible from here. The route continues till the army rock climbing institute. This camp is aptly named spider colony. It is headed by a very able army man of Tibetan origin who has climbed Mt Everest twice apart from conquering Ama Dablam and Mt Lhotse. Photography is strictly prohibited here. The trek continues along the tar road for a while. The views along the chakrata-tuini road are unending. This road leads to Kanasar (30km from chakrata) which is a majestic open field set among large devdhar trees. In fact kanasar has the largest diameter (girth) devdhar tree in Asia. Although no rivers are visible in the valleys; the intersecting spurs of the hills make for a beautiful vista. The campsite for the night is located amidst tall fir and pine trees and is protected from the chilling wind. We have hot dinner beside a bonfire. A starry sky wishes you good night.

Day 02:
Trek From Campsite(8kms) To Devban Frh And Back To Chakrata
The next day we start our trek post breakfast and walk towards the FRH of Devban. Packed lunch is provided for the journey. We take a detour from the main road and walk along the forest trail. The main road follows a winding path till a Y-point with one end going to the Devban FRH and the other continuing for a further 24km upto the skiing slopes of Mundali. Mundali has one of the best FRH in all of Uttarakhand. We follow the forest trail which was used before the tar road was built. The trail rises upto the ridge and then curves behind the vertical rock patch. The forests here are very dense and you get a feeling of being watched all the way. Since very little sunlight reaches here most of the snow will still be 1-2 feet deep. The trail ends right at the main entrance of the FRH. The meadows in front of the FRH are beautiful and the green fence gives it a postcard feel. After having tea at the FRH we proceed to Vyas shikhar which is the highest point on the ridge. At a height of 3005m it gives a mesmerizing view of the Himalayan vista. The peaks of kandariya mahadev, goshupishu, koshni, swargarohini, ranglana, banderpoonch, shrikantha, gangotri, kedarnath, badrinath, dunagiri, nandadevi and trishul are visible from here. There is a stone marker indicating all the peaks seen from here. After finishing our packed lunch we head back to our campsite. We pack our bags and proceed back to Chakrata. The rest of the day can be spent sight-seeing around chakrata. The famous tiger falls can be visited and the chintan-haran shiv temple can be paid a visit. The main bazaar of chakrata is called the sadar bazaar and is a small place. There are small viewpoints built all around chakrata for tourists to sit and soak in the views. The army has done a wonderful job to keep the town clean and the construction regulated. Most of the official government buildings continue to be housed in old British colonial architecture style bungalows. The most prominent among them is the police Thana. We leave chakrata and head for Dehradun.

This is a beautiful walk up nonetheless, amidst the wilderness of Rishikesh, and rest assured that we have made arrangements to make this as comfortable as possible, by providing 1 complementary bottle of water for the walk up, along with benches for a short rest, at regular intervals of the route.

You are harnessed to the wire and released by gravity; Roll down the wire to up to 7 mtrs above the river level and then fly back up, finally returning & settling down at the lowest point. Accelerate up to speeds of 160 Kmph. Feel the air gushing past. You are pulled back to the launch platform by a retrieval mechanism.

Fly in Tandem :
Fly with your closest pals! The fox is normally done by 3 people in Tandem. Can also be done solo, at an extra cost. After walking down to the cafeteria, claim your Dare to Jump certificate.
